We are excited to announce that the 2025 Population Data Science Summer Internship Programme applications are now open! This year, we are offering a record number of opportunities, building on previous year’s success and expanding the programme’s scope.
Since its launch in 2019, the internship programme has grown year on year, providing an increasing number of students with hands-on experience in Population Data Science. Last summer, 16 talented interns joined the team, working on diverse research and development initiatives. The programme provided opportunities to apply academic knowledge to real-world challenges across research, technical development, and data science.
For 2025, we are expanding the internship programme to 21 placements, giving more students the opportunity to work alongside experts in our award-winning team.

Professor Ashley Akbari, Population Data Science Summer Internship Programme Director, said: “It’s fantastic to see the expansion of our internship programme, both in the number of internships and the breadth of opportunities available. Our teams love working with interns, and we have seen first-hand how their work contributes to real-world projects and programmes, often leading to published research and operationalised methodologies and technology.
Many of our interns go on to secure jobs in the sector, including returning to work with us. This year, we are delighted to offer even more opportunities for students to gain invaluable experience and make a real impact.”
