Centre Overview
The National Cardiovascular Research Network (NCRN), funded by Health and Care Research Wales and the British Heart Foundation, is an interdisciplinary network connecting academics, clinicians, health professionals, industry, and charities.
Our mission is to enhance cardiovascular research across Wales by building partnerships and driving vital research. At its core, the NCRN is patient and public-focused, embedding lived experiences into innovative research and knowledge-sharing programmes.
We seek to enhance the potential of our research findings to inform prevention strategies, transform diagnosis and to increase the effectiveness of health interventions across Wales and beyond. The Network’s breadth of inter-disciplinarity approaches to research, engagement and policy is focused on two complementary thematic areas:
- Tackling arrhythmias and myocardial disease (TAMED)
- Vascular ageing and clinical outcome
These synergistic themes are integrated with cross-cutting expertise in “Data and Advanced Analytics”. Through facilitating the integration of community and specialist care and aligning with government priorities for undertaking research that help move diagnostic care and clinical management closer to the patient, we hope to deliver solutions that ultimately result in better cardiovascular health outcomes for Wales’s public and patients.
