The ADR Wales training and capacity building team have been awarded the ‘Most Innovative Project’ in recognition of delivering the innovative open-learning solution – Datacise Open Learning – for users of trusted research environments from across the ADR UK partnership, and the broader administrative data research community.

The award was announced at the recent ADR UK Partnership Meeting on 26th June.
Nominated by colleagues across the partnership, the ADR UK Partnership Awards recognise the great work and valuable contributions of the teams and individuals within the ADR UK investment.
ADR UK is made up of four national partnerships – ADR England, ADR Northern Ireland, ADR Scotland, ADR Wales and the Office for National Statistics (ONS). This structure allows each of the UK nations to have dedicated centres and teams, focusing on policy needs, enabling UK-wide research and building work force capacity.
Datacise is an innovative project that offers an open-learning solution for users of Trusted Research Environments (TRE) from across the ADR UK partnership and the broader administrative data research community in the UK. It aims to increase the number of trained researchers proficient in analysing complex linked administrative datasets.
The Datacise platform caters to learners of all levels through adaptive and experiential learning formats, providing self-paced modules and engaging online workgroups with real-world context and expert insights.
Datacise empowers TREs to deliver engaging learning experiences, fostering community support, knowledge-sharing, and networking. Significant milestones include:
- Becoming the leading training provider for SAIL Databank TRE user training courses.
- Collaborating successfully with the Ministry of Justice data owner and TRE experts to provide user training on Data First datasets, which directly benefited over one hundred social scientists across the UK and raised awareness about using administrative data for research.
Learners also benefit from personalised training that builds confidence in utilising complex administrative linked datasets. Datacise facilitates skill development in crucial areas such as data linkage for sustainable national data research infrastructure through tailored courses and themed workgroups. This enables individuals and organisations to navigate and use administrative data effectively for impactful research outcomes.
There were 40 nominations across five award categories to recognise the efforts of teams and individuals who have delivered innovation and shared best practice within the ADR UK investment.
Thank you to all our contributors who have made this possible!
