PROJECT OVERVIEW
HealthWise Wales is a project to recruit members of the public in Wales to collaborate in health- related research projects.
Participants are asked to complete online questionnaires on the Cardiff-based web platform.
Periodically, we send data to the NHS Wales Informatics Service for matching to give pseudonymised identifiers, and the questionnaire responses are sent to the Secure Anonymised Information Linkage (SAIL) Databank.
Here we link it to healthcare data, so the information given by participants in questionnaires is augmented by linked data about their health.
The data is then ported to a UK Secure eResearch Platform (UKSeRP) portal where researchers who have applied for access to do specific research projects are able to work on their data securely.
